About the Charity
Welcome to St. Helen’s Park Preservation Society
St. Helen’s Woods is a nature reserve of 100+ acres in the heart of Hastings, managed by the St. Helen’s Park Preservation Society. The society had its beginnings in 1955, and was officially established as a charity in 1957 to manage and preserve the woods.

Our Mission
Our mission is to protect this beautiful local nature reserve from development, and to preserve it just as nature intended—for the benefit of wildlife, our community, and future generations.
As climate change continues to threaten green spaces, St. Helen’s Woods plays a vital role in supporting nature and biodiversity, and is a place of peace and tranquillity. This special place is open to all, and it relies entirely on public support.

Safeguarding the Future of St. Helen’s Woods
The Society’s work is overseen by a dedicated team of trustees and a committee of volunteers who manage the day-to-day affairs of the organisation. Their responsibilities include preserving the land, protecting it from development, and ensuring the financial integrity of the Society.
We are always looking for new volunteers to join our committee and support our mission. If you have experience in event planning, administration, or fundraising, we would love to hear from you. The committee meets every six weeks to discuss ongoing projects and future initiatives.
