Following advice from professional ecologists and hydrologists, a small area of the St. Helen’s Woods nature reserve is closed to the public for several months to allow for essential woodland management work. This area lies to the south/west of the unmade section of St. Helen’s Park Road (adjacent to Shining Cliff) and also borders the St. Helen’s Wood Road stable track and the De Roemer Fields.

The main work taking place now involves removing invasive, poisonous laurel. This has grown out of control and damaged the growth of bluebells and other habitats. Read more about this HERE. There will also be works to the streams to improve water management and enable wetland restoration.
Thank you for your patience whilst these works take place. Look out for the signs which will indicate which areas/paths are closed. For everyone’s safety, please don’t enter or allow dogs to run around in the closed areas.
Thank you to our working party for their assistance with these works.
